Jolicloud needs your ideas! Feel free to add them below.
- Would it be possible to get xboard as app for the people loving chess for connecting to the server freechess.org?
- Could we please have an applet in Preferences to allow/close icons on the TOP tool bar - I see reports - and have done it myself - accidentally losing individual Icons - Pretty Please.
- We are still some who make websites, it should be posibly to have a wysiwyg-editor like Kompozer.
- A place on the site for performance tuning, some of the older Other Platforms can run a bit slow with all the animation turned on.
- The Ubuntu Netbook Remix user interface is the major drawback so far. An interface like the jolicloud installer would be perfect.
- Somewhat smaller application icons in the application launcher. Thus creating room for more icons on lower resolution screens.
- More control over applications in the favorites menu, such as custom ordering.
- Applications like Google Reader which render under Prism should allow for add-ons like Better GReader.
- Ability to find and easily install alternate drivers.
- A ebook reader would be a good choice. FBreader could do the job.
- Have Twitter and Facebook integrate with the Jolicloud updates.
- An alternative user interface like the moblin v2 would be great.
- The abilty to zoom text only (not images) on Prism apps (ala Firefox) is welcome. Fonts appear tiny on netbooks.
- The ability to set up with enough swap space for hibernate to work.
- The ability to prepare an encrypted partition on an external SSD/hdd, and mount it as /home or /home/<username> before/during login.
- “Littlefox” as the default Firefox theme.
- The ability for the gmail, google reader “unread counts” to show up in the system tray in the top right.
- Ability to add more applications which are in the Ubuntu channel.
- Ability to encrypt the whole system during installation. (Fedora does that with LUKS.)
- Ability to lighten black color or change color of the netbook launcher. (So custom backgrounds look nicer)
- Removal of the current Ubuntu themes, makes Jolicloud seem more genuine.
- Notifies you via cell phone or email when an important system update is available.
- Use kermic release and lpia architecture
- Support all Fn keys
- Provide support for Pombo for netbook recovery
- Ability to install interface on existing ubuntu machines without system reinstall
- Kernel-headers and rest of the deps that nvidia-* driver need to install. 50% of the market today have nvidia accelerated graphic cards.
- A place on the wiki to describe all the different apps included in Joli.
- A way to filter between native and webapps in the jolicloud installer.
- Ability to remove an app (and maybe even update it) by right-clicking on it in the offline applications list.
- Sound up/down display graphic in my Jolicloud Dashboard doesn't neatly overlay the search box as it should.
- A ”launchy”-style way of quick-launching programs.
- Ability to close programs by middle-clicking on them in the taskbar (like tabs on firefox/most other browsers).
- Support for OLPC XO-1 & XO-1.5 (could use existing XO specific kernel wrapped by rest of Jolicloud distro)
- Hard drives, folders, etc on the right of the main screen should display in the middle pane of the main screen, instead of in a separate full-screen file browser.
- Support for the not so standard netbook like machines like the U810 with its tablet pc like screen and touch screen.
- System should attempt association to default wifi hotspot during boot (in parallel with normal boot process) so that network connection is ready as soon as the system is - I have seen this done in Puppy Linux - It reduces 'Power On to Online' time by a good 15 seconds.
- System monitor panel widget should be enabled by default (Processor & Disk Activity indicators) - Some netbooks lack a physical hard-disk light, depriving those users of feedback on what the machine is/isn't doing - this widget is a useful substitute.
- If only one user account exists, the ability for the system to ONLY request password rather than user name and password.
- Mac OS X airport has a feature called “Remember this network”, if we could have that, it would be super, user's just have to check that feature when entering the WEP key, and once they hit OK, they never have to do it again. One “check” to rule them all
- it'd be great if we could have the an app that can disable/uninstall some of the pre-built apps/functions of jolicloud, for example, the annoying Keyring that keeps popping up. It's not worth end-user's time to tweak linux to rid of keyring to enter passwords.
- extend Remote Desktop preference function to enable users from outside of the local network to view/control the desktop (netbook or otherwise). Comparing to Mac OS X, it has iChat application that comes with screen sharing feature that can be used amongst iChat users. Why not have something similar for jolicloud, right?

- if the laptop mode really helps prolonging battery life, then perhaps its best if we could have a GUI switch to enable or disable it.
- We need support for GUID Partition Table drives. I (We Mac OS X users) can't access our external drives formatted with GUID partition table, for example Seagate FreeAgent Drive. It's so ridiculous if we have to recompile the kernel again
Please support it. - eHome infrared transceiver/reciever support with a easy gui to choose or manually configure signals from remote.
- Make XBMC available in audio/video programs!
- Screenshots of programs and link to site(or at least a google search-string)

- Wider support for webcams and 'live chatting'. I think aMSN should be in programs.
- Ability to make changes(what icons to be displayed, and maybe add some) to the right menu of desktop.
- A better exit-icon. I use 1680×945 resolution on a 18” fujitsu siemens, and the icon is dragging jolicloud's appearance down.
- Option to select a cpu-temp applet, or maybe a way to add more applets?
- A Voip application with support for SIP, like Ekiga or Gizmo, would be great!
- The ability to fully remove built-in applications (eg. all the games) via an uninstall interface
- Support for the Lenovo Ideapad s10-3t touchscreen.
- Synaptic Touchpad Support;
- YamipodSuport or other itunes alternative For ipod/itouch/iphone mp3 sync;
- offline configuration for gmail, greader, gcal
- The Ability to lock the Screen.
