Jolicloud is a new operating system based on GNU/Linux, Kernel.org, Ubuntu and Debian that has been optimized and extended for netbooks. Here's a summary of some of the optimizations we've been working on:

• One-click install mechanism for applications
• Social notifications from Jolicloud and your friends
• Web-based one-click update process
• History of all actions performed on My Jolicloud

• Based off on Linux 2.6.30.4
• Compiled with gcc's “prescott” march and mcpu settings for Atom optimization
• Imported “asus_eee” overclocking module - Upgraded to support PCI overclocking
• Imported “vt6656” USB Wifi driver
• Upgraded ALSA drivers to v1.0.20
• Upgraded broadcom 4312 module for HP and Dell Minis - Applied several third-party patches to stabilize broadcom wifi module and disabled b43_pci and ssb modules (causes conflict on broadcom module)
• Upgraded the ata_piix driver with several short-wire netbook IDs (for faster SDD performance)
• Disabled several non essential modules
• Compiled several modules in line with the kernel

• Jolicloud account notifier and update notifier
• Complete redesign of the graphic themes for the usplash, the GDM and GNOME
• Stripped down Jolicloud image (non-essential software removed as they can be installed later on in one click)
• Enhanced Netbook Launcher interface
• Enabled CPU Frequency Monitor applet for manually setting the CPU speed
• Redesigned and enabled Lock Keys applet

• Full-screen web applications through Mozilla Prism
• Built-in support for Flash and Gears in both Firefox and Prism
• Early working developer versions of Google Chrome available

• Upgraded Intel i915 drivers
• Upgraded synaptics touchpad driver

• Activates the Webcam USB
• Activates the Card Reader USB
• Activates WIFI and Bluetooth (over rfkill-input, if supported)
• Adjusts sound levels to support recording, playback on many netbook models
• Automatically set various sysctl optimizations
• Automatically set minimum scaling frequency
• Automatically set performance-mode CPU when on AC power

• Improves Firefox: disables IPV6, enables HTTP proxy pipelining, disables synchronized storage and adjusts memory capacity, adds smooth scroll, fixes the download directory, etc.
• Updates the power manager default configuration to fix “stop responding” issues
• Fixes the suspend on lid-close
